THE PAD

(Sketched as it looked in the 60's)

84 S. Ocean Blvd., North Myrtle Beach (Ocean Drive) during its "Baby Boomer Hey Day" (1955-1985), this Graffiti covered, delightfully dilapidated former beach house became the "Second Home" to shaggers, lifeguards, and the rowdy college crowd. The Pad's popular "Grand Poopah" at the time, Harold Bessent, is credited with making it the most famous Shag club on the Southeast Coast for "Babes, Beer, and Beach Music".
